For that reason, it does not come as a surprise that a festive season like Hari Raya, there is always a smorgasbord of local favorites prepared for everyone. Personally, there are so many delightful options for us to choose that it was hard for us to pick but we managed to narrow it down to the 8 Easy Raya Recipes 2023! Here is a list of our personal favorites that we would love for you to try out during the festive season.
1. Kurma Cheesecake

We Malaysians really love cheesecakes, don’t we? A cheesecake is typically something that is common but adding dates to it makes it momentous for the festive occasion. This Kurma Cheesecake (also ‘Dates Cheesecake’) is rich and decadent with the cream cheese that would make cheesecake lovers go over the moon for this recipe. Because dates are naturally sweet on their own, you can go light-handed on the sugar.
There is also a twist in this cheesecake concoction that makes it easy for you to go for a second bite—a smooth whipped Rich’s Milk Topping, a wonderful topping cream of ours and the first whip topping made from milk. The milkyness of it pairs beautifully with the cream cheese and makes up for a nice texture and taste that leaves you satisfied, yet not overwhelmed. It is certainly a cheesecake that will leave your guests asking for the recipe; we recommend enjoying a slice of this cake with a warm cup of tea.
Rich’s Milk Topping is a premium topping cream which has no less than 36% dairy content. Bursting with a unique milk taste and being easy to whip, explore on all its greatness here.
2. Kek Batik Cheese

The Kek Batik (also ‘Batik Cake’) is perhaps one of the most cherished and memorable cakes in Malaysia. While its origin is unknown or unclear to us, we do see it bearing some resemblance to the Australian Hedgehog Slice and the English Chocolate Biscuit Cake (oh right, Prince William had these as one of his wedding cakes). The Kek Batik gets its name from the batik-like patterns that can be seen around the cake formed by the crushed biscuits.
It is most popular to be served during the celebration of Hari Raya as it looks beautiful, though some of us may choose to eat it all year round because it is so easy to make you don’t even have to bake it. And as if we cannot get enough cheese, this Kek Batik Cheese (also ‘Batik Cheesecake’) is here to make its mark. If you are quite the chocoholic as well and wanting nothing more but to enjoy a simple no-bake cake, then this one is dedicated for you. This cheesecake is topped with an irresistible dark chocolate ganache that has been mixed with our Rich’s Milk Topping, making it chocolatey, milky, and smooth all in one go. While it is quick to make, be sure there are enough slices for everyone for the open house gathering!
3. Puding Sagu Mangga

We find puddings to bring joy to any occasion but wait, this pudding has all the flavors that makes it essentially Southeast Asian. After a scrumptious meal of your usual chicken rendang, bubur lambuk, asam pedas, satay, and all that, it’s nice to just enjoy a chilled slice of pudding. If the pudding idea sounds good to you (it does to us), then get your hands on this Puding Sagu Mangga (also ‘Mango Sago Pudding’) recipe for the occasion.
The sago bits are the ones that make for a fun and poppy texture in your mouth! And the pudding base is a sweet mango pudding… Mm, need we say more? The best advice we can give is for you to top off this festive pudding with ICEHOT Non-Dairy Creamer for a smooth and creamy finish. So much yum to this sweet treat, the kids will be sure to love it!
ICEHOT Non-Dairy Creamer is a multipurpose creamer that can be used as a creamer for hot and cold beverages. Its benefits include but are not limited to providing a smooth and creamy mouthfeel for consumers. To learn more about Rich’s Non-Dairy Creamer, read all about it here.
4. Cheese Tart Buncit

It would be a sin for us to leave out this one on the list. If you are into cheese tart desserts as much as we are, you are going to love this Cheese Tart Buncit dessert. You can let your imagination and creativity run free by piping Raya-related decorations onto the cheese tarts such as the colorful festive lights, ketupat, etc, the kids will go crazy for them. Even better, get your children to make these cheese tarts with you in the kitchen.
To make things quick and easy for you, you don’t have to do much to enjoy these little tartlets of happiness. You only need FIVE ingredients for this Cheese Tart Buncit. For your convenience, we have our Rich’s Portuguese Egg Tart Topping that you can use in this recipe—the egg tart topping is made with pasteurized eggs so when it’s mixed into the cream cheese, it’s a whole lot creamier (and safer to be consumed). By using this convenient topping, you will have a consistent outcome too. Sometimes, the size of the eggs might vary in batches which might result in a different outcome, you don’t have to worry about that when you are using Rich’s Portuguese Egg Tart Topping.
And oh, you don’t even have to make the tarts from scratch when there’s Par Baked Tart Shell, a ready-to-bake-and-serve shortcrust tart that needs no extra work from your end… except filling it with the things you love. 5. Cupcake Onde Onde

Cupcakes are well-loved by people from just about anywhere in the world, and Malaysia is certainly no exception! To suit the local tastebuds and have it fit the Hari Raya celebration, go on ahead and make our Cupcake Onde Onde (also ‘Onde Onde Cupcake). For those who are unfamiliar, onde onde is a sweet pandan-infused glutinous rice ball that is filled with a sweet Gula Melaka or palm sugar, and then rolled with grated coconut before serving. This traditional kuih is popular and can be seen sold by stall owners for teatime.
This Cupcake Onde Onde captures the essence of celebrating Hari Raya with your loved ones. Its pandan chiffon base is soft and fluffy and the aroma of the pandan can whet one’s appetite. You also get a lovely sweetness from the Gula Melaka filling. To top it off with a twist, we have used our Rich’s Klasik Crème which gives it a hint of savoriness, adding another flavor profile to an otherwise regular onde onde cupcake. So delicious, these cupcakes are bound to bringing families together during this celebration.
Our Rich’s Klasik Crème makes a delicious spread for your baked goods. It comes with a unique taste as it is enhanced with sea salt, making it complimentary to savory and salty ingredients. Read on further to know why Rich’s Klasik Crème is a non-dairy topping everyone must have in their pantry.
6. Kastard Pandan Goreng

Sweet, grassy, and fragrant in aroma, pandan does wonders for plenty of recipes. We thought that these Kastard Pandan Goreng (also ‘Fried Pandan Custard’) cubes would easily be everyone’s favorite during Hari Raya. After all, who doesn’t love biting into a crispy exterior and taste a delicious silky pandan custard in their mouth? For more texture, finish off the Fried Pandan Custard cubes with some grated coconut. This recipe is a perfect example of a divine combination of creamy custard and dough that is fried to golden perfection—this makes it hard to stop at just one. For this dessert, we have used Rich’s Non-Dairy Creamer to make the custard smoother and creamier. The only caveat is that this fried dessert is best served the same day it is made. So, make sure to leave time to prepare them, fry them up, and enjoy them all on the same day. We guarantee that this one will be finished fast during the Hari Raya open house.
7. Cheezy Choco Kurma

Drawing inspiration from the love of dates during Ramadan and Hari Raya, we thought on how we could use a traditional ingredient like dates and how to incorporate it with the cheesy drink trend, the result was this Cheezy Choco Kurma. Let this refreshing drink be part of your celebration and serve them to your guests this Hari Raya. Best enjoyed when it’s chilled of course, the combination of fresh milk, chocolate, and dates syrup creates a unique taste when you are drinking it. And since it also comes with a generous of cheese foam on top of it, you get to enjoy a hint of saltiness from it which is balanced with the chocolatey date milk. Overall, a soothing and comforting Raya drink—helps you ease into all the Hari Raya delicacies!
