Add Salt to Boiling Pasta Water

Add Salt to Boiling Pasta Water

This culinary tip will bring some flavor magic to a pasta dish near you. It’s time to add some salt to that boiling pasta water—the ultimate condiment for pasta. Let’s get our salt bae mood on!

Pasta is one of those great staple foods that probably everyone has in their pantry. Everyone’s made it, there are many versions of it based on where they live. Everyone’s pretty much cooked their own batch of pasta… and more likely than not, especially when you are having limited time in your hectic schedule, you are likely to find a regular tomato sauce off the grocery shelves, head back home, and have it served with yourplain pasta just because it saves time. Or maybe you do have time, and you enjoy making your own sauces to serve up with your pasta dish. However, you would be pleasantly surprised to know that the act of adding salt to your pasta water is an essential part of cooking pasta—so that every bite of pasta is seasoned to perfection.

If there’s anything I could use these days, a solid plate of pasta is one of them. Some days, I just want to live my Italian dreams too, you know? So, the idea of making a flavorful plate of pasta even more flavorful needs no convincing. Now you might be thinking if pasta really needs to be flavored but hey, no matter how delicious or lip-smacking good your Bolognese, Carbonara, or Marinara sauce is, the pasta is the foundation upon which you build your flavors.

The rule is simple. What you want to do is add about 1 to 2 tablespoons for a large pot of water, stir it until it dissolves. Once the water really starts boiling, you can add in your pasta. Simple as this step or trick is, it will elevate the taste of your pasta dish. Pasta really is one of those foods that you can never get sick of, if I may say so. If you are up for a beautiful hot steaming bowl of pasta tonight, I do hope you try out this culinary tip.Do it right, it will be special and comforting. Until then, Pasta la Vista!
